This calculator is very interesting and gives you an insight into the way your brain works. From a medical view point, it will also help you assess your balance ability (which is involuntarily controlled by the brain). Read the below instructions before undertaking this test to avoid injury.
How to assess your balance ability (sense of balance)
1. Stand at a location free from any objects
2. Ask a friend or helper to stand next to you incase you fall
3. Close both your eyes (or blindfold your eyes with a scarf or cloth)
4. Stand on one leg with eyes closed and ask someone to time how long you can stand
5. The test is stopped if the other foot touches down; hopping occurs; eyes open; or either hand touches a wall or other support.
Sounds easy? many people think they will be able to stand for several minutes as balance is such a natural function of the brain that it is taken for granted. Take the test, and then feed in your scores into the above calculator to see how you performed against normal scores for your age that have been arrived at after medical research.
