                          How is compound interest calculated. What is the compound interest formula

Compound interest is the concept of adding accumulated interest back to the initial investment (also called principal). Doing this means that interest is earned on previously accumulated interest. Therefore when we add the interest back to the principal (making it a part of the principal), the act is called compounding (which is loosely refered to as interest is compounded). The rate at which interest is compounded (added back to the principal) may vary upon the type of loan.
